Updated with Braid 45 for 2020, a portion of this racquet's graphite fibers have been strategically woven at a 45 degree angle to enhance feel, pocketing and stability.
The Pro Staff 97L v13 also gets updated with Wilson's String Mapping, which creates denser spacing in the hitting area for a more predictable and controlled response.
On groundstrokes, the 97L feels comfortable, crisp and precise. Intermediate players will find spin-friendly targeting on full swings, and the stiff beam construction will help you get the ball moving powerfully through the court.
Compared to the previous generation, this update feels faster, making it slightly better for scrambling on defense or hitting shots on the run. At net the quick handling will help you react quickly and stay active. Although not as stable as the heavier models in the series, this racquet feels solid for its weight class. The speedy feel is also an asset on serve where this stick whips very easily through contact.
Ultimately, with subtle tweaks to the feel and response, Wilson has produced an impressive update to the Pro Staff 97L. The faster feel is a nice bonus.
